Collection: The Derbyshire - Bakewell Tart

Arguably Derbyshire's most delicious culinary creation was in fact created completely by accident in the 19th century when Mrs Greaves, landlady of the White Horse Inn asked her cook to create a jam tart. Misreading the recipe, rather than incorporating the almond paste and jam into the pastry, Mrs Greaves' cook spread the mixture on top, creating the Bakewell Tart we all know and love today.
