When is National Yorkshire Pudding Day 2026?

Sunday 1st Feburary

This year, National Yorkshire Pudding Day, rather fittingly, falls on a Sunday.

If we're being honest, we're not entirely sure about the origins or legitimacy of Yorkshire Pudding Day.

But, as proud proponents of British culture, we consider the humble Yorkshire Pudding as something of a delicacy- and who are we to turn down a chance to celebrate this Northern staple?

The BEST Yorkshire Pudding Recipe

We take our Yorkshire Puds very seriously around here, so you can trust us when we say that this BBC Good Foods recipe is the best.

The key to getting huge, fluffy Yorkshire puddings is to pre-heat your oil, and to make sure that you keep the oven door firmly closed once you've put them in!

Ingredients:

- 140g plain flour

- 4 eggs

- 200ml milk

- Sunflower or vegetable oil (for cooking)

Method:

1. Heat the oven to 230C / fan 210C / gas 8.

2. Drizzle a little oil in two 12-hole non-stick muffin tins and place in the oven to pre-heat.

3. For the batter, combine the flour and eggs until smooth.

4. Gradually add the milk, beating until the mixture is completely free of lumps. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Transfer the batter into a jug. Remove the hot tins from the oven and pour the batter evenly into each hole (be careful- the oil might spit back!)

6. Return the tins to the oven and cook for 20-25 until the puddings have risen and browned. Do not open the oven door during this time- this is crucial!

7. Serve straight from the oven, with a hearty serving of beef, roast potatoes, vegetables, and lashings of gravy!
