Part of us feels like the past two years have absolutely flown by, and yet the other part can’t even remember what we used to do with ourselves before we stumbled onto our ‘little idea’. We thought now would be as good a time as any to take a look back and remind ourselves (and you lot!) of some of our favourite moments of our second year in business:
1) Dacorum’s Den Winners
Last summer we were invited by Dacorum Borough Council to pitch our business to 5 prominent members of the local business community, and following a successful pitch, were extremely proud and honoured to be granted £1,500 towards growing our business. Which brings us on to our next favourite moment…
2) Upgrading from a saucepan to a 90L wax melter
With thanks to our Dacorum’s Den grant, we excitedly accepted delivery of our first fantastic wax melter and I don’t think I’ll ever see Oli so relieved again! Whilst we still pour in small batches of 6, we can now melt enough wax for up to 250 candles per day, meaning we can grow our business more efficiently (and leaving Oli more time to play golf!).
3) New Products
Our favourite thing about our brand is the scope to bring the map of the UK to life with scents for every county. We’re therefore always listening to our customers and updating our list of priorities for new counties. 2019 saw 5 fabulous new products, reaching all 4 corners of the UK:
4) new stockists
2019 saw us attend three huge trade shows, and take on lots of amazing new stockists. There are too many to list, but we want to give a huge shout-out to each and every one of our fantastic stockists - thank you for stocking our products and for helping us to spread our word throughout the UK.
5) our first premises
Last but not least, the moment which has by far changed our personal lives the most in 2019 – moving an entire manufacturing business out of our home and into our first workshop. Not only do we now have an organised (and pretty!) space to grow our business, but we got our home back – happy candle makers all round!
There are so many more moments I could ramble about but I’ve tried to keep this short and sweet. All I’ll say is, here’s to our third year in business – watch this space!
