Nothing says autumn in the UK quite like the scent of a freshly-baked apple crumble. British autumn time brings with it an abundance of seasonal fruits in an array of colours and flavours.
We've taken inspiration from The Somerset collection to create our very own autumnal Apple & Fig Crumble recipe...

Ingredients:
For the fruit filling:
- 350g apples (peeled, cored, diced)
- 300g ripe figs (cut into four)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp caster sugar
- 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
For the crumble topping:
- 175g plain flour
- 125g soft brown sugar
- 50g rolled oats
- 125g unsalted butter (cold, cubed)

Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180C (fan), and lightly butter a baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine your diced apples and figs and stir through
the lemon juice. Sprinkle over your sugar and cinnamon. - In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, and oats. Add the cold, cubed
butter and crumble using your fingers until you are left with a coarse
breadcrumb-like mixture. - Scatter your crumble topping evenly over your fruit mixture. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbling at the edges.
- Serve warm with custard, heavy cream, or ice cream!
When leaves turn golden and evenings become cooler, there’s nothing better than filling your kitchen with the scent of warm, baked fruit. This Apple & Fig Crumble recipe is inspired by The Somerset, a fragrance that blends crisp apple with the richness of fresh fig.
Just like the candle, this crumble is the perfect balance of comforting, fruity, and indulgent: the perfect Autumn recipe for cosy evenings by the fire.
