Can you believe it - the summer holidays are almost here!
As parents all over the country prepare to keep our children entertained for a whooping 6 weeks, we look to say a huge thank you to the teachers who have managed to educate, entertain and enlighten our children since September (how do they do it?!).
For when an apple just won't cut it, we've rounded up our ultimate collection of teacher thank you gifts to show them how grateful you and your little ones are for them...
Before we dive in, why do we give teachers apples?
The apple is an enduring symbol for knowledge, prominent throughout Greek Mythology, as well as the Bible, with Eve biting an apple from the "Tree of Knowledge". The tradition of giving an apple to a teacher started in the 1700s before governments around the world paid for the education of its people. Poor families in Denmark and Sweden gave teachers baskets of apples as payment for teaching their children. As time went on, and teachers started to get paid in real money, the gift of an apple remained as a token of appreciation.
Nowadays we think we can do a little better than an apple, but we love the symbolism the apple comes with, and so let's sink our teeth into the juiciest round up of apple-themed teacher gifts...
